Celebrating NBCUniversal's Commitment to Parenthood
For the eighth consecutive year, Comcast NBCUniversal has been named one of the top 10 “Best Workplaces for Parents” by Great Place to Work US. In honor of this recognition, Rachel Wiley reflects on her journey to becoming a parent while working at NBCUniversal.

NBCUniversal has a longstanding commitment to supporting employees at every stage of their parenting journey. Being named #6 on Great Place to Work’s “Best Workplaces for Parents” list is a testament to that dedication.
Rachel Wiley, Manager of Talent Branding Partnerships, has been with NBCUniversal for nine years. In her role, she works behind the scenes to gather and share stories about life at NBCUniversal with recruiters and candidates. Today, Rachel is sharing her own story. She spoke with us about her experience as a new parent and what it means to be supported at NBCUniversal.
How has becoming a parent shaped your life, and how have you felt supported during this journey?
Becoming a parent changes you in so many ways you never imagined. Knowing I have a company that truly supports and celebrates this new chapter means everything.
Having leaders who understand and genuinely care makes such a difference. From the moments leading up to my leave to the journey I’ll take when I return, it’s felt like a true celebration. That’s the kind of support that makes all the difference.
What has having time with your family meant to you during these early months?
NBCUniversal's parental leave policy has been life-changing for my family. The generous 16 weeks of paid time off gave me the opportunity to be fully present with my son during those first precious months.
Knowing I had that time—to adjust, to bond, and to savor milestones I’ll never get back, was an incredible comfort. It’s a gift I’ll always be grateful for.
What unique benefits have stood out to you as a parent at NBCU?
As my wife and I were beginning our family-building journey, we discovered NBCUniversal’s incredible fertility benefits, which include multiple rounds of IVF. The cost of IVF is incredibly high, but NBCU covered a lot of that financial burden for us, allowing us to focus fully on our journey to build our family.
Beyond that, the culture of genuine understanding here at NBCUniversal really stands out. Leaders across the company just get it. The flexibility offered, from hybrid work environments to generous parental leave policies, creates a culture that truly supports all types of families. It’s more than policies, though. It’s the way they’re implemented with care and a real understanding of what parents need. That’s what makes me so proud to work here.
