Introducing Lab Lessons from NBCUniversal’s Creative Impact Lab
Introducing a new series created as a resource for the Creative Impact Lab apprentices to develop their storytelling skills through expert insights from NBCUniversal creative mentors.

As an extension of NBCUniversal’s Creative Impact Lab, a new video series has been launched for the use of all creative agency apprentices. Titled ‘Lab Lessons’, the series was created as a resource for Creative Impact Lab apprentices to develop their short-form storytelling skills through expert insights and advice from NBCUniversal creative mentors.
Founded in 2022, NBCUniversal’s Creative Impact Lab is an award-winning initiative where NBCU employees, otherwise known as Creative Council Members, are paired with nonprofit creative agencies to develop marketing assets for nonprofit clients. The Creative Council Members work alongside apprentices, lending their expertise and serving as advisors on each storytelling project. The finished assets are showcased in donated promotional time on Comcast and NBCUniversal platforms, amplifying the nonprofit client’s mission.
The NBCUniversal Creative Impact Lab Lessons is a new series intended to further our mission of making the Lab an enriching experience for all creative agency apprentices. This video series was created as a resource for Lab apprentices as they learn our trade and features insights and advice from NBCUniversal creative experts.

The Art of Visual Storytelling
When creating a shortform video asset, it can be difficult to convey a strong message in a brief amount of time. In this episode of Lab Lessons, Creative Council Members NBCUniversal employee volunteers gather to discuss the fundamentals of shortform storytelling and offer their expert advice on how to create a thoughtful yet concise piece.
Making an Emotional Connection
This episode of Lab Lessons focuses on the importance of creating an emotional connection with your audience. As articulated by one of our expert panelists, creating an emotional connection is crucial to driving engagement and support. Throughout this episode, viewers will learn techniques that can be used to increase relatability (i.e music, narration) therefore strengthening the emotional impact of your video.
The Art of Interviewing Subjects
Hear from Creative Council Members NBCUniversal employee volunteers on how to best prepare for an interview. From the pre-interview to the final edit, this episode focuses on the fundamentals of conducting an effective interview with a subject.
