Universal Celebrates 30 Years of Jurassic Park
June 12, 2023
On June 11, 1993, the film that launched it all, Jurassic Park, opened in theaters nationwide, and launched a new era of filmmaking featuring unforgettable characters and dinosaurs who won our hearts from the opening song and scene. The original film earned over $1 billion at the box office, and prompted five Universal Pictures franchise blockbusters, including 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, which quickly crossed the $1 billion mark. As Jeff Goldblum’s character, Dr. Ian Malcolm, says in the original film, “Life finds a way.” Just three years later, Jurassic Park first opened at Universal Studios Florida and since then is now featured in theme parks in Orlando, Hollywood, Osaka, and Beijing.
With global theme park attractions, popular merchandise items for fans of all ages, the DreamWorks animated series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and more, the beloved franchise has made a dino-sized footprint across NBCUniversal.
At Universal Orlando Resort, fans will find exclusive Jurassic Park 30th anniversary merchandise and collectibles at the Jurassic Park Tribute Store, themed food and drink items from Thunder Falls, and on the weekend of June 9th, can enjoy commemorative film screenings at Universal Cinemark in CityWalk. Universal Studios Hollywood honors the landmark movie with its popular Jurassic World — The Ride. Fans will also find exclusive merchandise, themed food items, and anniversary film screenings.
