NBCUniversal Partners with Descriptive Video Works to Bring The Paris Olympic Games 2024 to Visually Impaired Olympic Fans

More audio description services – interspersing broadcast audio with skilled voices describing Olympic and Paralympic scenes and context – will be available for viewers who are blind or visually impaired for the Paris Olympics than any previous Games.

People with visual impairments who view the Olympic Games cannot see what's happening on the field, in the pool, or on the balance beam, but they're getting help in visualizing it. NBCUniversal has partnered with a Canadian company, Descriptive Video Works that have announcers who specialize in describing the games to a visually impaired audience.

Tony Ambrogio and Norma Jean Wick took time from calling the Olympics in Paris to talk with NPR host Lisa Mullins about what it takes to do the job.
