NBCU Studio Spends Day Supporting LA Food Bank
September 27, 2018
As part of September's Hunger Action Month, NBCUniversal joined more than 200 volunteers from across the entertainment industry to fight hunger together by participating in the 5th Annual "Studio Day" at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. NBCUniversal volunteers turned out in-force and teamed up with colleagues from Sony, Warner Bros., Disney, Paramount, and Fox to spend the morning assembling food kits containing essentials items such as pasta, canned fruits, vegetables, cereal, juice, peanut butter and more.
With multiple assembly lines operating simultaneously, NBCUniversal volunteers helped pack 4,480 food kits for low-income seniors in Los Angeles County in less than three hours.
“We truly appreciate NBCUniversal's participation in our 5th Annual Studio Day,” said Michael Flood, President and CEO of the LA Regional Food Bank. “Each year, the LA Regional Food Bank depends on thousands of volunteers to help us fight hunger. We are thankful for the studios and production companies who give their time and talent to help us fight hunger in Los Angeles County.”
This opportunity was offered to NBCUniversal employees in Los Angeles as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to giving back through our local “Community Is Universal” initiative.
“As a new employee, I’m grateful the company provides opportunities like this to its employees,” said Madison Li, Associate Manager Marketing Strategy for Universal Studios Hollywood. “It was amazing to see the different studios uniting towards one common goal, and it’s inspiring to see the big impact that we can create in our local community by working together.”
