Inaugural “B1G Day” Celebrates Beginning of 2023 Big Ten Season; NBC Sports and Peacock Kick Off on September 2

NBCUniversal celebrates the inaugural “B1G Day” this Thursday, Aug. 10, with integrations across NBC Sports, NBC News, NBC Entertainment and Universal Parks, engaging with fans through interactive social posts, and giveaways.
NBC Sports, which kicks off its Big Ten football coverage on NBC and Peacock on Saturday, Sept. 2, joins the Big Ten Conference and its media partners in looking ahead to the kickoff of the 2023 college football season.
Last Thursday, NBC Sports introduced “BIG Day” to a national audience during the NFL Hall of Fame Game on NBC and Peacock, igniting a week-long call to action for fans to celebrate their Big Ten fandom this Thursday across NBCUniversal, Big Ten schools, and fans.
NBCUniversal “B1G Day” activations and engagements include:
- Big Ten promotion across NBC Sports’ properties such as the NFL, MLB Sunday Leadoff, and GOLF Channel.
- Big Ten integrations across the NBCUniversal portfolio including:
- A B1G Day themed TODAY Show segment featuring school mascots
- Set takeovers across ACCESS Hollywood shows
- An NBC Sports Grill & Brew takeover at Universal Parks Orlando and Hollywood
- NBCUniversal campuses across the U.S. and globally will celebrate “Big Ten Day” with themed tailgates and experiences.
- Big Ten schools will generate excitement with their students, alumni, and fans nationwide across their social and digital platforms.
- Fans can celebrate the upcoming college football season on “BIG Day” by breaking out Big Ten school colors and using #BigTenDay across social media platforms.
- Fans will also have the chance to win B1G with NBC Sports’ “Big Ten Day” giveaway:

NBC Sports debuts its landmark Big Ten Football package with two of college football’s top programs – Penn State and Michigan – opening their 2023 seasons with home games on Saturday, Sept. 2.
- At Noon ET exclusively on Peacock, the Big Ten champion Michigan Wolverines open “The Big House” against East Carolina.
- At 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, the Penn State Nittany Lions, Rose Bowl winners this past winter, host West Virginia at Beaver Stadium in the schools’ 50th meeting, but first since 1992. The Nittany Lions and Mountaineers played 31 times between 1960-92.
