The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation Announces 2019 Project Innovation Winners
Comcast NBCUniversal is dedicated to supporting organizations that are creating positive change in our local communities. Through Project Innovation, the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal (NBC and Telemundo stations) and the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation recognize non-profits that are pioneering programs to advance communities in the areas of storytelling, community engagement, culture of inclusion and youth education.
The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation is pleased to present 68 non-profit organizations with a 2019 Project Innovation grant award. For the second consecutive year, the Foundation and the stations are awarding nearly $2.5 million in grants to organizations that are leading programs to create real-life changes within our communities. NBC and Telemundo stations selected between three to eight remarkable groups and awarded a total of $225,000 through one of the four grant categories: Culture of Inclusion, Youth Education, Next Generation Storytellers, and Community Engagement. The winning organizations serve communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Hartford, CT, Dallas/Fort Worth, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, Southern California, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, and Washington, D.C. markets.
This year’s grant winners comprise a variety of programs that are introducing children to STEM-related fields to help develop the next generation of STEM leaders, non-profits that are mobilizing underrepresented communities by empowering them to take an active role in political elections and the upcoming 2020 Census, and groups that provide adults with market-ready skills to obtain successful and high-paying jobs in technology fields to help them secure a brighter economic future for their families.
